In Focus: A morning in Tambobong Beach, Dasol, Pangasinan

To be conflicted between wanting to be alone and having the need to be with real humans is one of my nature (for being an introvert or whatever condition it is), but there was no time and situation in my life like this that I’d do anything to be with another soul, whether in silence or in a rowdy but fun-filled adventure. I needed solace but at the same time, company. Somehow, I got that while I was in Dasol.

A whole new world

I have seen beaches change their appearance as the water recedes during low tide, but it was my first time to see this much seagrass appear, as if miracurously, overnight by the beach.

On the morning of our second day inย Tambobong beach, the tide had receded, reducing the immediate swimming space by the shore.ย What you’d find instead was the new landscape covered by seagrass where people were walking leisurely on, taking pictures or looking curiously at tide pools.

I went to the beach alone.ย

Some of us were still sleeping.ย

There were other beachgoers but it felt peaceful. I enjoyed the solitude and the warmth without doing anything for a couple of minutes. Couldn’t let theย beautifulย light pass without a self-portrait, so I placed my phone on the bangka, and set the timer for a “been-there shot”.

Having smelled the fresh air (more like ‘seaside’ kind of fresh) and getting warm enough, I started exploring the new landscape.

There were several pools where you can see some marine creatures.ย

If you come to think of it, it must be hard for them critters to be in this situation. Very unfortunate, actually. The world they live in and the space they move in suddenly shrunk, reduced. Some maybe are trapped among the grass out of water and might have been already trampled upon… I wonder if I killed any starfish or crushed and seashells while I was happily walking.

I was enamoured by the golden light cast by the morning sun. The glorious monrning golden hour. I didn’t want to go crazy with the shutter, rather, I took my time to feel the moment and only fired when an idea came. I managed to control the excitement and genuinely felt relatively calm while taking a few shots with the big camera.

Here are some of the select shots from the beach that morning.

And as an extra, here are a few shots (fast and slow shutter) from the waters outside Covelandia.

Ahh. The magic of photography. Capturing colors, moments, and expressing your point of view.ย

Do you sometimes wish you can freeze or slow down time?

That’s it for this trip. Up next, La Union!
