ABOUT ME
Litratista + turista = litraturista
Litraturista is a mix of two words: litratista, the Tagalog word for photographer, and turista which translates to tourist.
tourist. /ˈtʊr·ɪst/ a person who travels and visits places for pleasure and interest.
I am a person who is easily amazed even by the simplest of things. I love to take photos of almost anything. Every travel for me is a treat for the senses, from the seemingly endless desert to a jaw-dropping scenic beach sunset.
Perspective and perception play a big part in every journey.
As an expat I have at least 30-consecutive days vacation from work. It’s my time, whenever possible, for excursions and travels with family or friends in the Philippines (or somewhere else).
When in Saudi Arabia, I’m either in an office or somewhere outside for some field works. Work travels give me the opportunities to see different places. I become nomadic-ish soujourning in hotels. The perks? Getting to experience different surroundings, people, culture, foods, and so much more.
the tourist
I have only been to a few countries other than Saudi Arabia and the Philippines: Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Japan, Scotland, Finland, Belgium… do airports count? And every travel is different. But every place calls you to be a tourist and a traveller at some point.
My travel experience within Saudi Arabia is much, much more extensive compared to the the Philippines. This inevitably makes me feel like touristy whenever I am in my home country. Makes me feel a bit ignorant but also makes the experience more fun and exciting.
the photographer
My interest in taking pictures began when I started working as a site and RF (radio frequency) surveyor. It was part of my job to bring a point and shoot camera and take site photos from top of buildings and on cellular towers.
And in between work, I’d take random photos and upload them over at tumblr (I’m old!), which eventually led me to loving photography.
Then, the rest is history.
